Riding Academy

Southern Star Ranch offers hunter/jumper lessons in both private and group settings for anyone 7 years of age or older. Parents, children, or groups of friends are discovering the joy of riding, as well as the exercise benefits and sense of adventure found in taking lessons. Time enjoying the great outdoors away from video games and television sets is an added bonus.

Balance seat riding and communication with the horse is our primary goal, and we accomplish that by teaching the principle of seat, legs, hands. Lessons vary according to the needs and skill of the rider and are conducted in a safe environment. All students begin with grooming and tacking activities, and progress from there. We believe in a well rounded learning experience, and teaching from the ground up ensures a wonderful understanding of the horse. Helmets are provided, and required for anyone under 18 years of age, or anyone jumping.

We offer students the opportunity to join us in attending a variety of area shows with skill levels ranging from intermediate to accomplished. This provides the opportunity to refine their knowledge and skill. It's also a great time to get to know fellow students and enjoy quality time with the horses. Stress is never a part of our showing routine!
