Dear Melissa - Even though I have thanked you through the years for your kindnesses and help, I still feel that I have not been able to thank you as fully face-to-face as I can in a letter.
From the very first, when Jack had such a bad cut, and I did not know how to properly bandage him much less the trauma of trying to give him a shot, you were there for both of us. I wonder if either of us would have pulled through had you not stood by my side with calmness and a positive outlook. I know you and all the help there really gave him special care and watching over.
Following that were the months of chemo my husband had to go through with all its resulting reactions. I did not worry that all of you were looking out for Jack when I just could not make it out there - especially the weeks when Ed had chemo everyday for 4-6 hours each day. I could not have possibly looked after both of them during this time.
Then when my own system got out balance, you had the patience of Job and the Christian concern to call it to my attention about the time my sister did - which was what saved me from a possible stroke or heart attack and got me on the medications I did not realize I needed.
I really wanted to get this thank you letter off to you because I know I could not say it to your face without getting too emotional. I thank you from the bottom of my heart and so does Jack.
God bless you, Ramona Kromberg

To Whom it may concern,
My granddaughter and I would like to recommend Southern Star to anyone using the facilities. Our horse Prancer was a resident at Southern Star for five years with great results in his care and concern for his well being. I can honestly say Prancer was not always the best behaved horse and they always treated him with kindness and firm control. It is a facility that has the horses as their main priority and responsibility. As I stated Samantha and I recommend this facility for a horses care and nurturing.
Sincerely yours,
Linda Matzke

Good morning Jimmi and Melissa,
I would like to thank you both on behalf of BSLF for producing a memorable experience for the children of the 5 schools attending! Jimmi, you are amazing! We are so very fortunate that you have taken the lead of implementing the program in Putnam Schools! I just love coming up there and meeting all of the people that you have involved in this venture! You have really set a standard and a created a perfect program!
Melissa, what a wonderful venue, and your hospitality and volunteer involvement was incomparable! I cannot thank you enough for opening up your home to us! Please extend my sincerest thanks to all of the “crew” at Southern Star.
On another note – I’m totally and completely in love with the foal and was thinking of names all last night! Having horsy pangs! Look for photos later this evening on the BSLF facebook site. I will also get them to Annie to add to our website.
Best~
